Having a good-standing license

Having a good-standing license and appropriate commercial truck insurance used to be enough for shippers to contract motor carriers, but new information made public by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, (FMCSA), is causing many small trucking companies to worry that an already-stifled economy could get even worse.Despite a pending lawsuit and legal request to stay the publicity of the FMCSA's new CSA 2010 program, information regarding company accident history, driver fitness, equipment upkeep and several other safety-related categories is now available to shippers and other freight companies alike by simply logging into the FMCSA website and viewing a comprehensive score.

What is CSA 2010?CSA 2010, which stands for "compliance, safety and accountability," is a system proposed by the FMCSA in December of 2010 to publish a safety score for motor carriers and independent truckers to prospective employers, as well as their competition.According to the FMCSA, an agency formed in January of 2000 that regulates the national trucking industry, the goal of CSA 2010 is to increase safety standards and reduce accidents that occur during commercial transit.Arguments against CSA 2010Several trucking associations that represent over 2,700 small trucking companies are suing the FMCSA, challenging that current CSA 2010 standards produce overall safety scores that are not accurate.
They're worried the scores will cost motor carriers jobs unfairly by increasing false conclusions based on speculation.Trucking company spokesmen have gone on record expressing concerns for the methods by which safety scores are calculated, stating that accidents caused by other drivers will sky-rocket the scores of smaller companies, costing them jobs because motor carriers will be making false assumptions from the CSA 2010 data. The scoring system is set on a scale of 1-100, 100 being the worst, that's derived from several categories including several possibly subjective categories such as "Unsafe driving, fatigued driving, driver fitness, controlled substance abuse, vehicle maintenance, cargo-related accidents and an overall crash indicator."Effect on Independent TruckersThe Owner Operator Independent Driver Association, (OOIDA), has expressed concerns about the system on record as China tow tractor well, claiming the standards for arriving at scores is weighted against independent drivers by counting 3 years of violations and infractions as opposed to the 2 required for motor carriers.
Furthermore, the organization expresses concerns about counting all infractions including warning tickets as opposed to just convictions. Some speculate the commercial truck insurance industry might unfairly spike rates based on the public information as well.Official Stance and Current State of CSA 2010According to the FMCSA official website, the initiative is meant to "improve large truck and bus safety and ultimately reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities that are related to commercial motor vehicles."

If you are knowledgeable about the car

Negotiations are a fact of everyday life. When we interact with people close to us like family, friends and colleagues; we are somehow bound to exchange ideas and reach a compromise. In reality, that is what negotiations are all about, finding a compromise in where each party is comfortable with his or her position? However, when it comes to using our negotiating skills for the purchase of a vehicle, most of us find the experience just plain unpleasant.

This is probably due to the fact that a lot of commitment and resources are involved. With a lot at stake, it's no wonder why majority of buyers don't like having to negotiate. If you are one of those people who would like to buy a car but wouldn't know how to get the best deal from a car salesman, listen up. Careful preparation is your ally when it comes to this.
If you are knowledgeable about the car and the current prices, you may well dictate the flow of discussion. Understanding each part's objective will also help a customer realize the root of difficulties when they negotiate. A customer will always try to get the rock-bottom price for the goods that he or she would like to purchase. It is the same with cars. No matter how useful and important an item is, we don't want to shell out more than what's necessary. Nevertheless, the car buyer what is the lowest exact amount that a dealer would sell the car for.
At the same time, the dealer doesn't also know how much room you have in your budget. Both of you are going to try and get information from the other party so that you can arrive at an agreeable price. This process will not be a walk in the park because dealer will always try conterbalanced stacker to make you spend more. It's all about business at the end of the day. Plus, the more money you put in during the car procurement means more earnings for them. This strategy is called maximizing profit. Before, the way to negotiate was for the customer to mention an unreasonably low offer which the salesman will not accept.
Instead, the car dealer will give another price which was higher which the buyer would decline as well. This back and forth process is deemed stressful, not to mention, time consuming. Today, car buyers everywhere can use online resources to their advantage. By checking websites for the lowest price of cars in your locality, you can make the negotiation process short and fast. Some customers actually print the data and show them to the dealers. In many cases, negotiation won't even take place. Instead, the lowest selling price would be automatically given right away. You also have the option of going to various dealers in order to survey and compare prices.

People often get carried away

People often get carried away when purchasing cars. A vehicle first and foremost should be a reliable source of transportation. Yet many - especially young males get carried away in the act. It's a matter of ego - whether the car or truck is a badge or matter of status, or whether it's the fun of "doing the deal".Who's to blame? One might say it's the consumers for getting carried away.

Or one might blame the dealer for overly aggressive and even manipulative tactics. Or it might be stated that it's the fault of the automobile manufacturers and industry itself for insisting on marking the manufacturer's suggested retail price at levels that make it attractive to negotiate so as to sell as much product as humanely possible. And it might be said that it's the fault of segments of the automotive marketing channels and media that for years and years they have pointed accusatory fingers at the dealerships, thereby creating an air of distrust. However and no matter what in the end it's the consumer who signs on the bottom line and accepts responsibility for payment of the vehicle - be it truck, SUV or simple car, and pays for the automotive product whether in one lump cash sum or with financing and auto payments over time.
Thus the one most important element in evaluating which vehicle you are going to purchase is not even your needs or wants or the style or color of your eventual purchase but rather the simple question and questions "What can I afford?"Take the full time to do a proper and full assessment of your finances now and in a worst case scenario in the upcoming future. Have this done on paper or in a word processor computer file and firmly fixed in your mind - long before you even entertain going car shopping and certainly before you enter the doors of any auto or truck dealership , used car lot or even private seller.
It's like going to an auction and knowing ahead of time what your maximum bid will be. This way you have a reference point of what is and what is not reasonable and affordable to you. You will have your limits drawn in your mind so you are not as likely either to get "carried away" with a product choice or enter into a negotiating battle where you ego is involved and you either semi-electric stacker feel that "you must have that car / truck /SUV" or that you must win at all costs the negotiating bidding war between you the salesman and the alleged manager behind the door in the back office calling the shots.
True some people will have a limit and allow a buffer just in case of say 10 %. Yet by doing that they have firmly set a limit in their mind of just how far they will go price wise and what point they will walk away. Its just they have given themselves a bit of leeway in the negotiating exercise just in case.In the end it can be said that you as the auto consumer and purchaser must not only like the vehicle and perhaps learn to live with the color but ultimately you are the one and no one else who is responsible for payment legally. Hence it behooves each and every auto buyer on the prowl to plan ahead by knowing their finances, financial situation and ultimate price point limit.

We hope you enjoy

If you're into RC cars and trucks, you'll know that not all vehicles are created equal. This short guide provides a basic understanding with meaningful ways to get more off-road performance out of your RC truck or buggy.1. Upgrade the Motor & ESC - Most hobby grade RC trucks that come in kit form and even ready to run include standard "brushed" electric motors and low to medium current output electronic speed controller (ESC).

Some of the newbies may not realize that simply upgrading to a more efficient and powerful "brushless" motor version can double, if not triple your radio controlled trucks power if you also match it up with a more powerful ESC and run the RC at higher voltage. Nitro and gas engines are a little different. If you're running the Traxxas Nitro Stampede or similar nitro truck, these engines are typically upgraded to a larger size (from a 3.3 to 4.6 size for example).2. Upgrade the Battery Pack - When you do upgrade to a brushless motor and ESC setup, you gain not only higher efficiency and power, but these motors can often handle "double" the voltage.
You can take advantage of this, by also using a higher voltage and higher amp capacity "Lipo" battery. Generally LIPOs are 3.7 volts per cell, whereas a Ni-Cad and NiMi version are only 1.2 volts per cell. Because of the higher energy density of LiPo and Lithium battery technology, you can often find a 3 cell (11.1 volts) electric tractor lipo battery with more than double the "Amp Hour" storage capacity than a standard NiCad and NiMi battery pack, in roughly the same or just larger in size! If you have a larger RC truck with dual motors and battery packs, this means you'll need to upgrade both of them of course.
Adjust Gearing For Torque - Okay, if you're really into the sport of RC truck off-road challenges, generally torque is preferred over top speed. Luckily most hobby grade and even some toy grade RC trucks are made so you can easily change the gearing ratio for higher torque! Generally the Spur and Pinion gear (the pinion is the gear on the motors shaft) combination are easy changes in most RC trucks and cars and changed most often. Most hobby shops will carry plenty of gears for your model to step up your vehicles torque and take off power.
If you're a crawler or running in any challenging off road course, torque is much preferred over top speed!4. Upgrade Your Tires - You have a few options here, but the "size" of the tire and the tread is what you want to look at the most here. Bigger tires are better. Taller tires increases your ability to navigate through harder tracks and wider tires improve your chances of gaining traction more in loose, muddy, and similar environments that are harder to gain traction in. Tires with one type of off-road tread may not be the best solution for all off road terrain. Some off-road tire tread works better in loose mud, others better in snow, sand, or thicker mud. Basically you want a tread that can really "dig-in" the surface adequately enough to gain enough traction to move the vehicle forward and backward and not just spin its tires in place without going anywhere. Sounds simple, however this is often the most common mistake!5. Adjust or Improve Suspension - Okay, if you're the regular off-road RC truck guy, you may not need overly concerned about your stock shock adjujstments or replacement, however if you are a "crawler" trying to conquer extreme boulders at very steep and sharp angles, long travel shocks tend to navigate over more diverse terrain without bottoming out, therefore are mandatory for crawling! We hope you enjoy our article and are really to explore the hobby of RC buggy and truck offroading. View the bio below for more info about the author. Whether you have an electric Traxxas Stampede, T-Maxx, a HPI Savage X, or a Losi Super Truck, these same tips typically apply and can be changed in most models.
